Welcome to Rebirth: Shadows Over Cormyr
Step into a fully reimagined journey across the Kingdom of Cormyr — a land ravaged by war, dark prophecy, and ancient powers stirring beneath the soil. Rebirth is a complete Total Conversion mod for Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition, introducing an original storyline, characters, and world — built from the ground up. It’s a brave spin-off of the Baldur’s Gate series, set in the glorious kingdom of Cormyr, far from the Bhaalspawn’s shadow.
A weary traveler sold into slavery is thrust into the heart of a conflict between kings, dragons, and forgotten gods. Escaping captivity, the player is tasked with protecting a mysterious dagger — a relic that could unravel empires and pierce divinity itself.
But freedom has a price. And in a realm where armies clash and immortals play dice with mortals, survival may hinge not on strength — but on insight, sacrifice, and the will to defy one's fate.
Historical Context: Cormyr on the Brink
The year is 1371 DR — the Year of the Unstrung Harp. Across Faerûn, the echoes of chaos resonate from shattered thrones and shifting divine powers. In the heart of the western Heartlands, the Kingdom of Cormyr finds itself battered by war, weakened from within, and haunted by old shadows that refuse to die.
The Kingdom has been plagued for decades by goblinoid forces that had been gathering in the wilderness and mountains north of Cormyr. Led by the great devil-dragon Nalavarauthatoryl, known as The Devil Dragon, the alliance of goblins, orcs, bugbears, and hobgoblins launched a full-scale invasion in 1370 DR. Yet King Azoun IV and his Purple Dragon Knights stand proudly defiant.
In the besieged fortress of Castle High Horn, a seemingly minor incident involving a caravan slave and a hidden dagger may spark the next phase of the long raging war — one not fought with swords alone, but with secrets, magic, and the will of dead gods.
